Denim Fabric Forecasting SS 2013

There are a few trends that I have been waiting to come into their own in denim and from what I have been reading they will be making an appearance for Spring/Summer 2013. At Denim by PV three main trends stood out.

The first, melds the two strongest trends, heritage and a 90’s feel, borrowing elements from both: Engineered Herringbone. This distinct weave has evolved into an almost three dimensional feel with ridged textures creating a tactile feel. It is reminiscent of punk in the early 90’s merged with workwear and tailoring.

Continuing with the 90’s punk feel is color…and when I say color I mean COLOR..neons, and brights galore.

Then of course you have heritage, which continues to evolve. For Spring/Summer the fabric is lighter and worn in and we are seeing slub chambray with a rustic nodding to the dust bowl era. For those of you in California the dust bowl reference hits close to home as we try to keep the central valley a thriving farming community, introduce sustainable practices and keep the impending dust bowl at bay.
