Bread and Butter

  • The heritage movement continues to evolve and we will see a strong shift towards embracing the artisnal roots of denim to tell the story. These premium weaves incorporating indigo warp and weft or blackened wefts to create depth will appeal to men and women.
  • The railroad stripe has evolved into traditional ticking stripe for men. The popularity of the railroad stripe as well as the continued play in the heritage arena help to propel this new look especially with worn or antiqued fabric. The popularity is also influenced by dress-up trend emerging in men’s wear.
  • Slub Chambray was a major fabric at the fabric shows and we are seeing that forecast come to market for S/S 2013. Adding a worn and light feeling to summer denim chambray falls into the heritage feel without being period. Both men and women will be embracing this lighter weight fabric for the warmer months.

A quick look back at Spring 2012 Runway shows us the genesis of these trends.
